8th Grade Information

End of the Year Activities

8th Grade Students and Parents,

Our expectations are that students will continue to follow the district, school, and classroom policies throughout their entire 8th grade year. The 8th grade end of the year activities that we all look forward to will be here before we know it. As we prepare for our students to move into high school with life skills that will ensure their success we also need to remember our end of the year activities. We want all of our 8th graders to be able to fully participate in the end of year activities so that they may create wonderful memories at the culmination of their 8th grade year.

However, participation in these activities is also a privilege. We expect our 8th grade students to continue to observe and follow the rules we have set forth for the entire school year. Students may be excluded from end of the year activities if they have ANY of the following offenses.

The following rules will be enforced for all 8th graders beginning on January 16, 2018.

Offenses that will result in the loss of a privilege:

  1. Five referrals to the office.

  2. Three days out of school suspensions.

  3. Seven days at ATS.

  4. Any overdue library books or fines.

  5. A grade point average below 2.0 for the 12-week progress report (For Moving On Ceremony)

***Community service is available for students to recover their privileges. Students must make an appointment with Administration for this opportunity. Exception being GPA.

Privileges will be lost in the following order:

1st:  8th Grade Dance

2nd: 8th Grade Beach Bash/Picnic

3rd:  8th Grade Moving On Ceremony

We want to thank you for all of your continued support encouraging our students to follow the school rules and be able to fully participate in and enjoy the 8th grade end of the year activities we are all looking forward to.

Thank you,

Steve Bessant

I reviewed the above with my student and understand the requirements for my student to attend the 8th grade end of the year activities. This must be returned to your Humanities teacher by Friday, January 19th.

If you do not return this signed letter of agreement you will not be eligible to participate in any of the activities.
