Cheryl Mathews & Jordana Makihele

Cheryl Mathews-

Before Children I was into body building and a personal trainer at World Gym. I also did modeling commercials for World Gym. I was also an avid  skier, surfer, and running a 5 or 10 K somewhere. I was  always at the beach. I was born and raised in Oceanside...I'm a rare breed, true So. Cal native girl.  I am an AZTEC...S.D.S.U. Alumni!! There I received my Bachelor's in

Liberal Arts, Learning Handicap Credential, and Multiple Subject Credential. I went on to U.C.S.D. earning my Resource Specialist Credential. I taught in Vista Unified School District for 10 years. I missed being at the beach, and divine intervention stepped in...there was an opening at O.U.S.D. for a Resource Specialist here at Lincoln.  I've been at Lincoln ever since then.

Now it's all about yoga, Swami's Beach and living a healthy lifestyle. I have 2 beautiful boys...21, and 23 now. Still my babies. My oldest is a  Skateboard Photographer and several adds published in THRASHER magazine. My baby is the "TECHY" in the family! He's in college majoring in technology.... to teach his Mother. I'll get there, through osmosis!! Now, my life is still crazier than ever, and even more fulfilling!

Jerry Speedon & Daisy Sanchez & Jessica Lane

My name is Jerry Speedon and I currently teach and support students in the SEAS Program here at Lincoln Middle School. I am an alumnus of Oceanside High School, class of 1990, and reside in Oceanside with my wife Christine. We have been married for 22 years and have three children together. My oldest daughter, Isabella, is a current senior at St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame Indiana and is also a graduate of Oceanside High School, honors class of 2014. Natalia, our second daughter, is entering her senior year at Oceanside High School. Our youngest son, Emilio, just recently completed his freshman year at Oceanside High school.

I began my career as an educator teaching 6th grade students in the Perris Elementary School District. After three years in Perris, I was offered an opportunity to come home and work here in Oceanside teaching 5th grade at Libby Elementary school. I am currently entering my 13th year of teaching, 7th here at Lincoln Middle School, since returning to teach in Oceanside. Over the course of the last several years I have volunteered in assisting local youth organizations such as Oceanside American Little league, Oceanside Girls Softball Association, Oceanside High School Boys Baseball, and Oceanside High School Girls Softball. I am a huge fan of the San Diego Padres, New Orleans Saints, and Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame. One of my favorite hobbies is playing golf. I currently volunteer to help the girls and boys golf teams at Oceanside High school, as well as restarted a Lincoln Middle School Golf Club this past 2016-2017 school year.

As an educator, teacher, mentor, coach, or simple role model, my daily objective is to inspire as many students that I can with kindness and compassion and help them believe that each one of their lives have value. My life-long advice to them come from the following two quotes: “Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one .” -Bruce Lee- “If you work hard

Kevin DeFoney-

I am a brand new addition to Lincoln Middle School as of 2016. I received my undergraduate degree from PLNU along with my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential in 2010 and my Education Specialist Credential from CSUSM in 2014. As an Education Specialist I try to make my classroom a place that is adaptive to all learners, flexible, and fun. I like to think of my room as the custom design body shop of the seventh grade at Lincoln Middle School. Anything that can be modified or skills that need extra practice, my room is the place. I'm excited about the potential for adaptive self guided computer programs and integrating the best technology into our math program over the next few years. When I am not teaching I can be found chasing waves in Baja most weekends and across the globe when given an extended vacation. In the summers I work as a Lifeguard EMT for San Diego Fire and Rescue at Windansea beach in La Jolla. In the winter if the snow is falling in the Sierras you can find me any given morning on the first chair to the top at Mammoth Mountain ready to snowboard.
