ATTENDANCE

You Miss School, You Miss Out and we miss you!

NEW 2019 email attendance.lms@oside.us to Report an Absence

OR

Please call 760-901-8901 to Report an Absence

A parent or guardian must call Lincoln's 24-hour attendance line, before 10:00 am, each and every day the student is absent. The only alternative is to send a note explaining an absence the day your child returns to school. Unexcused absences could result in the loss of PANTHER PRIDE incentive.

“TWO IS TOO MANY!”

Even if a student misses two days a month, they are considered to be chronically absent. By now, if a student has missed 6 or more days (2 days a month) is trending towards being chronically absent.

Excused absences or tardies:

  • Illness/Injury
  • Medical/Dental appointment
  • Funeral of a family member (1 day in CA, 3 days out of CA)
  • Court appearance

*Anything else, even with a note, is unexcused.

Tardies:

Any student not in his assigned classroom at the 7:30 a.m. bell is considered tardy and must obtain an admit slip from the attendance office.  Unexcused tardies may result in a 20 minute lunchtime/after school reflection, where they will strategize with an administrator how to avoid being tardy in the future.

Early pick up:

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to pick up a student early.  Staff can NOT summon a student from class within the last 15 minutes of the school day.  The same Excused/Unexcused rules above apply.

Independent Study Contracts:

If a student will be out of town for 5 days or more, an Independent Study contract may be completed to excuse the absences.  Call 760-901-8902 for details.

Excessive Absences:

After 15 excused absences, a doctor’s note will be required to excuse any future absences.  An alternative is for the school Health Office to confirm the illness.

After 10 unexcused absences, the student and parents/guardians will be referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB).

The Board of Education amended administrative regulation 5113(a).

The policy now reads, "Absences must be cleared within 5 school days after the student returns to school."
